Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Hintword ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our web app and browser extension.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account.
- Content you create. Notes, tab collections, and tasks you choose to sync to our servers.
- Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how the website is used (pages visited, approximate location, device and browser information). Analytics data is aggregated and not used to identify you personally.
2. Where your data lives
Hintword is offline-first: your notes, tabs, and tasks are stored locally on your device and continue to work without a connection. Content is sent to our servers only when you sync. Cloud-synced data is stored on our infrastructure so you can access it across devices.
3. How we use information
We use your information to provide, improve, and personalize Hintword. Text you submit to AI features (such as grammar checking, rephrasing, or summarizing) is processed by our AI service providers solely to return the result to you. We may use anonymized, aggregated data to improve our features.
4. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with trusted service providers as necessary to operate the service — hosting, analytics, and AI processing — under agreements that restrict their use of it.
5. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication (keeping you signed in) and analytics (Google Analytics). You can control cookies through your browser settings.
6. Data security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS). However, no system is 100% secure.
7. Your choices
You can access, update, or delete your content at any time from within the app. Signing out removes your synced content and pending changes from that device. To request deletion of your account and server-side data, contact us.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on this page with an updated date.
